openSUSE-NET-ppc-Build0005-Media.iso - DHCP

Hello,

With Dinar's help I was able to figure out that the hang after DHCP4 I
was seeing after reboot into the installed system was a regression in
Factory's dhcpcd. (Installing dhcp-client via static IP and using
dhclient worked fine.)

Now with the new 0005 CD, DHCP seems broken in the installer, too. :(

The issue seems to be with systemd (especially with journal)

Frederic is trying to fix that. The dhcpcd issue has been fixed in the
Factory. But seems not published to the ftp tree yet.

Same issue with 0006. When using a static IP for installation, it again
hangs after reboot at:

Setting up (localfs) network interfaces:
lo
lo IP address: 127.0.0.1/8 done
eth0 device: Intel Corporation 82546GB Gigabit Ethernet Co
eth0 IP address: 192.168.1.85/24 waiting
eth1 device: Intel Corporation 82546GB Gigabit Ethernet Co
No configuration found for eth1

We had an issue with journal (systemd based syslog insert) not being endiansafe,
which blocked any syslog action. It would hang around this part above.

I hope the next installation-images built should fix it.

Ciao, Marcus

With 0007 and 0008 images the installer still says:

DHCP configuration failed.

Is this the same problem that is affecting the x86 NET install CDs? The symptoms
seem to be the same.

Same with 0009, but using a static IP address I've now been able to
fully complete both stages of setup! :-)
